Hamilton hero Jason Scotland admitted his side didn’t play particularly well in Tuesday’s 3-2 win over Raith Rovers, but hailed the attitude of the players for grinding out a win.

Scotland (35) took his tally for the season to five, and three in as many games, with a stoppage-time winner over the Kirkcaldy side.

And he said: “Five goals for the season is pretty good because I haven’t played that much and it’s over about 10 games. That’s good, but the most important thing was that we got the three points on Tuesday, because Dundee won and it keeps the pressure on.

“We were chasing the game and needed the win to keep pressure on and we went off to find that Dundee had won, so that made the goal even more special.

“In the main though we need to keep focusing on ourselves and try to put on a good performance. We weren’t at our best on Tuesday but still got three points and that’s a good mentality to have. We showed a great attitude to come back and win the game.”

Jason is looking ahead to another tough game as Accies travel to face Cowdenbeath at Central Park on Saturday, and reckons the title race will go down to the wire.

He said: “I think we could perform better than we did on Tuesday and if we do then the result will take care of itself.”
