PORT Vale are being linked with a move for Dagenham’s out-of-contract right back Gavin Hoyte, and could even complete a move today.
The 24-year-old came through the ranks at Arsenal and had loan spells at Watford, Brighton, Lincoln and AFC Wimbledon before signing a two-year deal with the Daggers in 2012.
He has made 77 appearances for the Daggers in the last two years and has been busy in the close season having been called up to play for Trinidad and Tobago.
Hoyte, who can also play in central defence and on the right side of midfield, made his international debut in a friendly with Argentina in June.
Vale manager Micky Adams signed Hibernian defender Ryan McGivern earlier this week but made clear that he is looking for a further signing to strengthen his defence.
If Hoyte completes the move to Vale, he would become Adams’s fourth pre-season signing following the signings of McGivern, left-sided player Colin Daniel and winger Mark Marshall.
