GUYANESE super club Alpha United have indicated an interest in veteran Trinidad and Tobago midfielder Densill Theobald, as they strengthen in preparation for action in the 2014-2015 CONCACAF Champions League.

Alpha have qualified for the Champions League at the expense of 2012-2013 Trinidad and Tobago champions Defence Force, who they beat 2-0 at the semi-final stage of the Caribbean Champions Cup.

Alpha, a professional club has accumulated players from throughout the Caribbean including Grenadian Kitson Bain, St Kitts-Nevis Tiran Harley, several Jamaicans, and several Guyanese internationals including Gregory Richardson, Ronsol Williams and Anthony Abrams.

However, a source close to his Caledonia AIA club, said Theobald, who has played in Scotland, India and Hungary, was not too interested in the move. Another factor preventing the movement of Theobald and a couple of other players the Guyanese are interested in, is  that the transfer period between both countries does not coincide.

Alpha are also hoping to have a July 31 warm-up against local club AIA  ahead of the tournament and are said to be in negotiations with Caribbean Airlines to have the Morvant-Laventille-based Trinidad club fly to Guyana for the friendly match.
