Mass United has signed former US Youth National Team member and Univ. of South Florida All-American Kareem Smith to their American Soccer League side, which begins play this month.
Smith has dual citizenship in the US and Trinidad & Tobago, and has also earned 7 caps with the Trinidad & Tobago National Team. Smith has been playing professionally since 2005, making appearances for clubs in the US, the Faroe Islands, Puerto Rico, and Trinidad & Tobago.
The big defender has appeared for United in several leagues and tournaments, winning hardware with a Donnelly Cup championship and a Massachusetts State Soccer League title, both in 2013.
Smith, a Boston native whose parents hail from Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago, said he looks forward to playing professionally at home. “This is a great opportunity and to have it here at home makes it even better,” said the big defender.
