T&T striker Shahdon Winchester netted his eighth goal of the season to help his club FF Jaro earn a 3-2 win over KuPS in the Finland Veikkausliiga at the Jakobstads Centralplan, yesterday (Friday).
Jonas Eemt opened the scoring for FF Jaro in the 12th minute and ten minutes later 22-year-old Winchester doubled his team’s lead with his eight of the season while Denis De Assis made it 3-0 on the half-hour mark for his team to lead 3-0 at the break.
On the resumption, Miikka Ilo pulled a goal back for KuPS in the 67th and five minutes later his team was gifted some extra help when Jaro’s Frederick Svanbaek was issued a second yellow-card to leave his team to play the final 18 minutes with ten men.
And in the final minute, Charlie Trafford added a second for KuPS, but it could not stop Jaro which also featured T&T defender Aubrey David in its starting line-up from securing the win, its first in six matches.
The three points improved FF Jaro to 35 from 28 matches in seventh spot on the 12-team table, one more than RoPS, the club of T&T striker Jamal Gay while KuPS stayed fifth with 39.
Both Winchester and David were called up by Trinidad and Tobago head coach Stephen Hart for the upcoming 2014 Caribbean Cup.
