Daggers midfielder is backing young squad to come good ahead of meeting with former club tomorrow night.
Andre Boucaud believes he has nothing to prove to Luton Town, despite a mixed spell with the club in recent seasons.
Dagenham & Redbridge face former boss John Still tomorrow at Kenilworth Road and the Trinidad and Tobago international might have been facing the Victoria Road outfit had things been different.
The 30-year-old moved to Luton in January 2012 but only played seven times during the remainder of the campaign under then Hatters boss Paul Buckle.
Boucaud was sent to Notts County at the start of the 2012/13 campaign on a loan deal before making the switch permanently in January of that season, a month before Still took over from Buckle as Luton boss.
And although the Daggers number 28 could have potentially stayed at Kenilworth Road had he still been a Luton player when Still took over, he is pleased with how things worked out.
“I was there but not for long, I didn’t play many games,” admitted Boucaud.
“I signed for Notts County just before (John Still took over) and I didn’t really have a good time at Luton but that is football, it is not going to work out well everywhere for you.
“It worked out well for me because I went on to play two seasons in the division above and I played a lot of games for Notts County, which was good so I am glad I did go when I did.”
Although his time with Luton was unsuccessful, the midfielder doesn’t hold any grudges and is happy with life at Daggers.
Boucaud believes he has settled in quickly and will be doing all he can to make up for last weekend’s 1-0 defeat at home to Newport County.
He added: “We will try and go there to get the three points as per usual.
“But I haven’t got anything to prove to Luton. I was there but it didn’t work out. I went elsewhere and done well and now I am here.
“It is football so it is about opinions and the manager (Paul Buckle) that was there at the time obviously didn’t like me for whatever reasons so I have just got to work hard and move on.
“I have settled straight in and we have a good bunch of lads here. I think we have a decent team and if we can turn them good performances into wins then we will be a lot higher up the league.
“We have done well in a lot of games this season and we haven’t picked up the right result but we have got to dust ourselves off and go again.
“We have a lot of young boys in our team that lack a lot of experience, but it will come in the long run.”
