Shillong Lajong forward Cornell Glen is keen to play an important role for the north east outfit in his second season in India.

Glen was amongst the prolific players in the I-League last term and finished as the joint top-scorer with 13 goals.

“We have a great team and there is great atmosphere. I am waiting to play and I look forward to the rest of the season. My time in India has been tremendous. For me as a player, I have been in India for quite some time. I have played almost against all teams. I don’t have problems adjusting. So far so good as all our foreigners are back,” he said.

On being asked if he has set any personal targets this term to which he replied, “For me it’s not about personal expectations. I am here to play for the club and hopefully I did my job last season. I had a lot of injuries though so I am hoping to have a far better season.”

The 33-year old striker stated that his team will need time to adjust as the foreign contingent has reported to the camp only about a week back or so.

“It’s a very talented but a young squad. But it will take time to gel and work together. Foreign players just came in so it will take some time for us to get in the groove. The quicker we learn it will be better. Once we get the first win, it will become very easy for us thereafter,” he noted.

Glen hoped that his side can improve upon the sixth place finish from last season and move further up on the I-League ladder.

“Our goal is to finish higher than last season where we ended up on sixth spot. We must keep improving each year,” he said.
