Scotland says lack of playing time made him want to leave New Douglas Park, but jumped at the chance to return as player-coach for the club's strikers.
Jason Scotland said the chance to become part of the coaching team at Hamilton was a major factor in his decision to return to the club.
The former Trinidad and Tobago striker left at the start of January after finding his playing time limited, but returned three weeks later as strikers’ coach.
Jason (35) said: “I’m back in a coaching role. I wasn’t playing as much as I wanted to and I had to think about whether or not I could come back and be an influence on the coaching side, while still contributing on the playing side as well, so that’s what I’m looking to do.”
Scotland made his first start in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Dundee and felt Accies could have taken all three points.
However, after Dougie Imrie’s red card early in the second half, the striker was relatively happy with a point.
He said: “We had chances, and the boys were saying that we had created more than in the games we had lost, which is good, but we didn’t take them.
“It’s disappointing, but we were down to 10 men and got a point, so fair play to the boys. It stopped five defeats in a row, and hopefully we can get back to winning ways.”
