Carlos Edwards has re-joined Millwall on a short-term deal until January.

The right-back, 36, has been back in full training since the start of pre-season after overcoming the serious knee injury he picked up in September 2014 and has proved his fitness to Lions boss Neil Harris with a string of impressive performances for the club's Elite Development Squad in recent weeks.

Edwards, who first joined Millwall on loan from Ipswich Town in March 2014 before agreeing a permanent switch the following summer, will now try to work his way into contention for a place in Saturday's squad to face Chesterfield at The Den.

Harris told millwallfc.co.uk: "It's been a long and hard recovery for Carlos after what was a nasty injury.

"He has attacked his rehab with ultimate professionalism and the belief that he would make a full recovery and he has shown tremendous will power and determination.

"Carlos has achieved every goal that has been set for him up until now and I'm delighted that he has committed himself to us in the immediate short-term after proving his fitness levels.

"His next task is to force his way back into the squad and into the starting line-up."
