Trinidad and Tobago's Jason Scotland scored his first goal for St Johnstone hours after completing his move to the Scottish Division One club while Reggae Boy Deon Burton blasted a spectacular hattrick for Rotherham in English League One action yesterday.
Scotland, who won the race against time to get his passport and other documentation in order before the game, sent St Johnstone ahead after 23 minutes but they still went down 3-1 to Airdrie United.
Goals from Stephen McKeown, Bryan Prunty and Gary Twigg sealed St Johnstone's fate.
It was a fairytale start for Scotland whose two-year deal with Scottish Premiership side Dundee United was scuppered after he was denied a work permit several weeks ago.
Burton meanwhile, in his first season for Rotherham after transferring from Brentford, put on a classy display to help the North England club to a comfortable 4-0 victory over Blackpool.
The 28-year old striker netted from the penalty spot in the 58th minute before heading in his second a minute later and then scoring from the edge of the box to complete the hattrick.
John Mullin had earlier scored in the 40th minute to give Rotherham a 1-0 lead.
Grenada international Jason Roberts scored his first goal in the English Premiership, netting for Wigan Athletic as the newly promoted North West England club claimed their first win of the season, a 1-0 victory over Sunderland.
The 26-year old Roberts scored from the penalty spot in the first minute after being brought down by Gary Breen.
