Carlos Edwards will be hoping to play his part in Trinidad's bid to reach the 2006 World Cup Finals.

Four Luton players are away on international duty this weekend but all eyes will be on Carlos Edwards as he looks to help Trinidad and Tobago reach the World Cup Finals in Germany.

The former Wrexham defender stands just two games away from a place in the 2006 competition with Bahrian the only hurdle Trindad must conquer in a two-legged play-off match starting with the first leg to be played at the Port-of-Spain (in Trinidad) on November 12th with the return leg four days later.

Should Edwards reach the World Cup Finals, he will become the first Luton player to represent his country in the competition since Mal Donaghy in 1986, who was in the Northern Ireland squad whilst playing his domestic football at Kenilworth Road.

Meanwhile, Markus Heikkinen is also on international duty this weekend as Finland begin their preparations for the next European Championship with an international friendly against Estonia.

Warren Feeney will also be away with the Northern Ireland squad as they entertain Portugal at Windsor Park with the visitors continuing their preparations for the World Cup. Steve Robinson has also been selected but will be fighting against injury to be involved in the game.
