SECOND-CHOICE goalkeeper Clayton Ince has been dealt a potential blow after Tottenham were dumped out of the FA Cup by Leicester City.
The Coventry City understudy is desperate to get his chance in the league after keeping a clean sheet at Brighton, where he filled in for first choice Marton Fulop because Spurs didn't want the Hungarian Cup-tied.
Now the Londoners are out he should be free to represent the Sky Blues in the Fourth Round on January 28.
But the under-21 international's loan spell is up immediately after City play either Nuneaton or Middlesbrough in the next round unless Adams can secure his services until the end of the season.
"I need to speak to Martin Jol about extending Marton's loan but I think I will leave it a few days!" said the City manager.
Meanwhile Ince, who needs to get games to enhance his chances of going to the World Cup with Trinidad and Tobago, said: "The manager put me in to do a job against Brighton and I wanted to show him that I want to be part of his plans, to play in the league as well and push Marton.
"I haven't spoken to the gaffer about it because I prefer to do my talking mainly on the training pitch and in any games I get. I want to show him that I am still focused and still want to be part of it.
"Talking doesn't do anything and only performances can make things better for me at Coventry.
"He has seen another performance from me and knows the type of guy I am in training, so it is up to him to make a decision for the next game. He is the only man who can do that.
"But I am a professional footballer and I just want to try to do my job and play football."
He added: "Saturday's game was a good one to be involved in and the guys soaked up some severe pressure in the last 20 minutes, but they showed their ability and concentration, and what they are made of.
"The defence did pretty well in front of me. Ady Williams is another player, like myself, who has had a rough time but he is also showing that he wants to be part of the plans here, so playing football is the answer for everything."
And as for the Fourth Round draw, Ince is indifferent about the strength of opposition at the Ricoh Arena, saying: "I am not particularly bothered who we get in the next round and it doesn't matter whether we get the big team or small team.
"We just have to show that we want to go further and try to focus on going as far as we can in the FA Cup.
"It can make a bit of money and showcase the players and show people that we can play at the right level, and that can only be good for everyone."
