National senior team striker Scott Sealy continued his goalscoring form in the National Collegiate Amateur Athletics’ Men’s Division One with a goal in Wake Forest’s 2-0 defeat of Elon.
Sealy, who made his senior team debut earlier this year, scored his team-leading 10th goal of the season while sophomore Mark Ellington got his first at the Spry Stadium on Tuesday night.
Sealy has now netted a total of 36 career goals and moved into a third-place tie with Ben Stafford on the all-time goals list.
After Wake Forest had racked up 10 shots in the opening 15 minutes, Sealy finally beat the Elon goalkeeper.
Keel turned and slotted the ball behind the Elon defensive line for an on rushing Sealy, who dribbled past defender Taylor Saxe and blasted the ball into an open net.
Sealy now leads Demon Deacons in goals (10), assists (five) and points (25).
On Saturday, national youth team player Julius James netted his first goal for the University of Connecticut to beat Rutgers 1-0 in the Big East Conference.
Freshman James, who led St Anthony’s College to back-to-back National League and Inter-Col titles, headed in the winner off an Easton Wilson corner kick at the 106th minute mark in a double overtime win at Morrone Stadium.
Former St Mary’s College player Owoicho Adogwa was also on target for Duke University, who defeated Georgia State 4-0 at Koskinen Stadium last week Thursday.
Adogwa opened the scoring in the 62nd minute—his fifth goal of the season—while Danny Kramer (71st minute), Paul Dudley (78th) and Pascioni got the other goals.
But on Sunday, the Duke “Blue Devils” could not repeat the performance and went under 0-1 to North Carolina State.
