Dwight Yorke has confirmed that he is hoping to fix up a move to England ahead of the World Cup finals.

The Trinidad & Tobago international is currently in England due to his country's friendly with Iceland at Loftus Road on Tuesday.

It appears he is looking to use his stay in the country to find a new team to keep him fit for Trinidad's World Cup debut in the summer.

Yorke is currently under contract to Sydney FC, but the Australian season finishes next weekend.

Derby County have already expressed an interest in signing the 34-year-old, while other Championship clubs are thought to be willing to capture the striker.

Though the transfer window would preclude Yorke from testing himself in The Premiership again this season, the ex-Manchester United and Aston Villa ace is waiting for talks to bear fruit.

"That's a possibility," Yorke told Sky Sports News regarding a return to England.

"We are looking at all the options. Obviously, my people are working on it and are in talks with one or two people at this point in time, trying to make something happen.

"I know how important it is to make sure I continue to play as I don't want to go into the World Cup too short.

"If there's a possibility to come back to England, I'd certainly like to be here. I still feel I can cut it with the Premiership boys. It's just having someone believe in you and doing the business."

Yorke is looking forward to the midweek friendly against Iceland as it will be Trinidad's first game since clinching qualification for the World Cup finals courtesy of a play-off win over Bahrain.

He added: "It is the first time we have gathered again since we qualified. It's a really nice meeting point and everyone is quite excited about it."
