National midfielder Silvio Spann is on trial with English Championship Division club Sheffield Wednesday. Spann, who is in training with the club now, arrived there following his appearance in Trinidad and Tobago's 2-0 win over Iceland at Loftus Road two weeks ago.

Spann is coming off a season with Japanese club Yokohama FC but is now looking for a transfer before the 2006 World Cup. Other clubs have expressed interest in Spann including Dundee United, Birmingham City and Bolton Wanderers.

"There has been some interest shown and obviously I would have to make the best decision possible. I need to be playing because the coach of the national team has said how important it is to be active before the World Cup," Spann told TTFF Media before his trial at Sheffield.

The club recently signed Liverpool goalkeeper Scott Carson and Manchester City defender Mikkel Bischoff on one month loan deals and now manager Paul Sturrock could be in for a move for Spann.

At this time, Spann's national teammate Densill Theobald is also trying to break into the Falkirk first XI in Scotland. He has been on the bench in recent matches but has been appearing regularly in the Reserves League.

"Right now I'm working really hard to break into the team. I know it's an uphill task but I'm keeping up with it but I hope the gaffer can give me a chance pretty soon because he has been talking to me constantly and I have also let him know how important it is for me to be playing if I am to keep up my chances of making the national team that goes to the World Cup," said Theobald.
