The Los Angeles Galaxy have acquired forward Cornell Glen from the Colorado Rapids in exchange for the Galaxy's natural third round pick in the 2007 MLS SuperDraft, the club announced today. In order to make room on the Galaxy roster, the club today waived forward Naldo da Conceicao.

"Cornell Glen is an exciting and energetic forward who has proven he can score goals in MLS," said Galaxy Assistant General Manager Tom Payne. "He is an international quality player who we feel will fit in well with our squad."

A four-year MLS veteran, Glen is a dangerous forward who has scored 10 goals and registered six assists in 41 career games. He began his MLS career with the New York Red Bulls (formerly MetroStars) in 2004, registering a career-high six goals before moving to FC Dallas and then Columbus in 2005. Glen started 13 games for the Crew, notching four goals and four assists. Traded by the Crew to the Rapids in the off-season, Glen appeared in the first game of 2006 for the Rapids, entering as a substitute and playing 13 minutes.

"Cornell is a player who is always dangerous around the goal," said Galaxy head coach Steve Sampson. "I am excited to add another national team player to the Galaxy who will help us in our goal of repeating as MLS Cup Champions. In addition, I would like to thank Naldo for all of his contributions last year and wish him all the best in the future."

The 24-year-old native of Port-of-Spain, Trinidad first made his international debut on November 12, 2002 and has made 42 appearances for the World Cup bound Trinidad & Tobago National Team. Glen, who most recently appeared for Trinidad & Tobago in a July 12, 2005 exhibition match against Colombia, has scored 12 career goals for the national team.

Before joining MLS in 2004, Glen played for Futgot of Trinidad (1999-2000), Portugal's Adsanjonese (2000-2001) and CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh of Trinidad (2002-2004). Glen led CL Financial to two league titles in 2002 and 2003, scoring a combined 37 goals in the two seasons.
