Stern John was due to report back for pre-season training with Coventry City today as the Sky Blues step up their preparations for the new campaign. Micky Adams will assess the striker's fitness after taking holiday following his part in the World Cup with Trinidad and Tobago, but he is not expected to feature in tonight's trip to Halesowen. The manager is taking a mixture of first teamers and reserves for the club's first domestic friendly, revealing: "We will be taking a Coventry City eleven to all our pre-season friendlies.
"We haven't got a reserve team as such and I will be mixing things up in the games as we work towards August 6. "We had a terrific trip to the States when we achieved everything we wanted in terms of fitness, football and bonding, and we are exactly where we want to be at this stage.
