There is a war on the brew in Dublin. Bohemians are ready to lodge a compensation claim against Shelbourne after the league leaders signed Avery John from Boston Bulldogs.

Bohemians believe that they are entitled to payment from Shelbourne for the player but the Tolka Park club does not see it that way.

"We received international clearance to sign Avery John and if Bohemians have any problem then it is with the Bulldogs. We have conducted our business entirely by the rules of the game," said a Shelbourne spokesman.

John left Bohemians at the end of last season to join the Boston Bulldogs in the 'A' League in America.

The Trinidad and Tobago national played most of the season for the Bulldogs but now that it is close season in America he decided to return to Ireland. Shels were interested so he signed for the Dublin outfit.
