Kenwyne Jones is in danger of turning from hero to villain with the Sheffield Wednesday fans.

Owls supporters have always loved Jones after his seven goals in a seven-game loan spell under Paul Sturrock helped fire them to promotion from League One two seasons ago.

But since then, Jones has faced Wednesday three times - and scored on every occasion.

He said: "It was a long while ago I was there, now I am at Southampton and we have a realistic chance of promotion.

"For some reason, I seem to hit them every time they come here or we go there, but that's not the big issue really.

"We need to go out there and get the three points".

Jones knows how important this week is with tonight's game at St Mary's followed by the visit of pacesetting Derby on Saturday.

"Three points from every game we play is going to help our promotion chances," said Jones, who scored against Manchester City on Sunday in the FA Cup to take his seasonal tally to nine.

"There are 17 games left in the league and every game is a big one. We need to win or pick points up," Jones added.

"If we want to get to that automatic promotion position, we need to at least try and win every game from now on, or win and draw a few to stay up there.

"It's not the time for slip-ups".
