Carlos Edwards has been overwhelmed by the support of Sunderland fans so far since he joined the club five weeks ago.
The 28-year-old winger has played in the last four league games since signing from Luton in a £1.5m deal - the Black Cats have won three and drawn one of them.
And Edwards says he feels at home in the North-East despite the cold temperatures - especially thanks to a new Trinidad and Tobago flag that has appeared at the Stadium of Light recently.
"I got a glimpse of it at the Palace game but then on Saturday it really stood out," he said. "I thought maybe we're bringing some sunshine to Sunderland!
"It's great to see. They're passionate and caring in that way. I feel totally welcome and the guys have been great. To see the fans have a T&T flag is fantastic.
"I've been here a few weeks now and it's been wonderful, the lads are gelling well together. The guys know what's expected and what they're capable of.
"The fans have shown they are good supporters. Most of them wish they could be on the pitch, but that's nice. They played their part and they show that they care and give us 100 per cent support.
"Saturday wasn't the best of games but sometimes you don't have to play nice football."
Edwards was also delighted to get on the scoresheet for the second time. "It was a nice strike!" he joked.
"If you don't shoot you're not going to score. It did get a deflection and maybe that took it away from the goalkeeper but everyone was happy."
