DUNDEE were given an injury boost last night when it was revealed that the injury sustained by Caribbean midfielder Brent Sancho is not as serious as was first feared.
The Trinidad and Tobago international wasstretchered off during the Dark Blues' 3-1 defeat by Rangers at Ibrox on Saturday with the club's initial fear being that he had torn ligaments.
Sancho had been performing well in only his third start for Jim Duffy's side since arriving on Tayside in the summer, but failed to get up after making a second-half tackle on Rangers striker Shota Arveladze.
However, although Sanchois now set to be sidelined with a groin strain for three weeks at least, Dens officials admit that they had reckoned on worse.
Dundee assistant manager Ray Farningham said last night: ``Brent has picked up a severe groin strain and will be out of action for three to four weeks.
``While that in itself is a concern, I must admit that we first thought the injury might be even more serious than that.
``However, it is nonetheless a blow to Brent whowas doing really well for us in the game in a midfield role.
``But he'll get over it and will bounce back before too long.''
