ST JOHNSTONE striker Jason Scotland hasn't given up hope of landing a First Division winner's medal this weekend.

If results go in favour of the Perth men, Scotland has vowed to give his gong to his mum Brenda - because she inspired him to become a footballer.

A win for Saints at Hamilton coupled with a draw or defeat for Gretna at Ross County would result in Owen Coyle's side completing an amazing comeback to win the title.

Scotland said: "My mum encouraged me when I was a kid and took me to see my brother and uncle play football. She gets all my medals and plaques.

"She calls every week after watching for the results on television. She actually woke me up on Saturday night after the win over Queen of the South and already knew what this weekend could mean to us.

"Earlier in the season I promised mum she would get my medal if I helped St Johnstone go up into the Premier League."

Scotland, who has a Scottish Cup loser's medal with Dundee United, longs to be a winner in his adopted homeland . He said: "All my winner's medals are from my time with Defence Force back home."

St Johnstone will be followed to Hamilton's New Douglas Park by some 3000 supporters and Scotland hopes the team can give them plenty to cheer.

He said: "We have set up an exciting end to the season and we're looking forward to the weekend. It's a big game at Hamilton and hopefully we can get a reward for everything we've put into the season.

"It would be cruel if we came out of it with nothing . It's out of our hands but it has been a good season for us so far and St Johnstone would be an asset to the Premier League.

"It's still in Gretna's hands but we have to beat Hamilton and see where it takes us."

St Johnstone have received a further batch of tickets for the title decider after selling out their initial allocation of 2700.

The briefs disappeared within hours of going on sale on Monday and yesterday they received an additional 210 briefs for the main stand after consultation with Police. These go on sale at 3pm today.
