Walsall are in danger of losing goalkeeper Clayton Ince if they don’t enter contract talks soon, according to the player’s agent.
The former Crewe man, who joined Walsall in 2006, is free to talk to other clubs in January and Saddlers could lose him for nothing come the summer.
Berry said: “No doubt about it, if they have not sat him down by the end of November, he will consider his options and quite rightly.
“When he first joined the club he helped them get promotion and became one of their key players. I am amazed they have not sat him down already.
“Jimmy Mullen said he would look at it at Christmas, but I said to him that he was leaving it really late. For some reason they do not see it as a priority.”
“Jimmy is concentrating on performance and getting the team up the league but, at the end of the day, he should be looking after his key players.”
Ince has been attracting interest from Championship sides Swansea and Nottingham Forest and, although Forest’s interest seems to have cooled, Berry confirmed the Swans had moved for the Trinidad international.
He said: “A month or two ago Swansea and Forest were very very interested. Swansea came in with an approach to Walsall, who turned it down.”
Yet, despite interest from other clubs, Berry reiterated Ince’s commitment to Walsall and his desire to sign a new deal.
The agent said: “Clayton would love to finish his career with Walsall and the ball is in their court to put a contract on the table.
“He loves the club, fans and facilities, once he crosses that line his mind is clear and he is concentrating on one thing and that is clean sheets.”
“He was hoping the club would have sat him down in the summer, but they did not for whatever reason, but he is such a good professional and he gets on with the job.”
