Steve Holland has praised the recent performances of his loan signing Dennis Lawrence. In the wake of injuries to Julien Baudet, Chris McCready and Danny Woodards, the 34-year-old has been called upon to play more than Holland would have wanted when completing his loan signing from Swansea City.
Steve told crewealex.net: "Dennis has been a real solider for us. We have had four games in 11 days and before that he has been half way around the world and played another two matches. Prior to that he hasn't played very much at all this season.
"He took pain killers to get through the match last night and he may look heavy legged at times, but he is now 34 and has been asked to play a lot of football lately. I didn't bring him in to play four games in 11 days. He was brought in to add some experience and offer some competition for places but with the injuries we have had, he has had to play.
"He has been a real warrior for us and put himself on the line for us, and I can not speak highly enough of him for that."
