DESPITE dripping with sweat after a strenuous warm-down following Rhyl's 3-1 win over Caersws, ex-Dragon Josh Johnson was happy to share his delight in getting a first call-up to the senior Trinidad squad this weekend.
"It was always one of my dreams to play for my country and it's a dream that has come true right now! It'll be good to group up with some of the fellas like Silvio and Dennis Lawrence and play a game."
So what of his two years at The Racecourse? Taken on by Denis Smith after a successful trial period, the decisive moment probably being a spectactular performance in a pre-season 3-3- draw with Manchester City, Johnson drifted in and out of the team until Smith was sacked.
Once Brian Little took over the writing was on the wall and the winger's departure in the Summer has an air of inevitability about it.
"My time at Wrexham wasn't good for me, but it was a good experience.
"I'm really disappointed at how it workled out but it was still a great experience.
"When I arrived at the club I had some good games and I thought it was a great start but unfortunately the new manager had a different point of view and I had to go but still, I gained experience from the situation."
So what's life like on the North Wales coast?
"Well at the start of the season it was nice and sunny but the weather's changed!
"It's still enjoyable playing here though. There are familiar faces like Neil Roberts and Danny Williams here and the group of guys are a good bunch. I'm quite alright!"
Some things never change though. His half hour cameo appearance against Caersws featured examples of the mazy dribbling Wrexham fans will remember, and he also marked the occasion with the Lilywhites' third goal, drilling a shot from outside the box which the Caersws keeper allowed under his body.
"I'll take what comes my way! Getting a shot off and scoring a goal was the icing on the cake.
"I like turns and doing a few tricks! I like to try to get the crowd excited. I like the fans here. They get behind the team and it's enjoyable to play for them."
Let's hope Josh, a likeable, almost bashful character, has found his footballing home and is able to enjoy many happy years at Belle Vue, not to mention the colours of the Soca Warriors!
