Mick McCarthy has revealed his gratitude for the efforts of winger Carlos Edwards after he was recalled by Sunderland.
Mick was just pleased to have been able to have the use of his services, and admits he would welcome him back should the circumstances arise.
"It's always the case that you can lose a loan player," said the boss.
"I'm disappointed because he's done well but that's the danger when they play well - circumstances change and you can lose them.
"He's been really good for us and got better and better but he's not our player so good luck to him.
"He was particularly good at Southampton so he certainly went out on a high.
"And you never know, circumstances might change again.
"I'd have him back any day of the week because he's a great lad and a good player."
Mick also revealed yesterday's news didn't overly affect his preparations for tomorrow's game with Blackpool as it's doubtful Carlos would have started given the travelling involved in his midweek exploits with Trinidad & Tobago.
