Chris Birchall goes up against England's Frank Lampard. The Sky Blue`s very own Trinidad & Tobago midfield playmaker Chris Birchall has today announced that he will not be extending his loan spell at league one Carlisle United beyond today.
The Cumbrians had agreed a deal to sign Birchall for the remainder of the season following a long period without first team football at the Ricoh. The decision came from the former Port Vale man after making just two substitute appearances in his five week loan spell up north.

It is now believed that he will be making the 3000 mile trip to America in search of much wanted first team football that Coleman or Abbot could not offer him.

Carlisle boss Gregg Abbot told his club's official website: "We couldn`t compete with the deal that Chris has been offered over in America, in the interest of both parties, we have to accept he is moving on."

"We wanted to bring him in on a permanent deal and try to get the best out of him, but that hasn`t happened for either us or Chris himself. He has been offered a great package and that is terrific for him and his family over there and he decided to go that route."

"It goes without saying; on behalf of the club we wish him all the best."

Birchall, signed by Mickey Adams in the 06/07 campaign has been with the Sky Blues ever since but has decided to move on following only 29 apps in the last three years at the club.
