Jason Scotland has been Swansea's top-scorer for the past two seasons

Jason Scotland has not gone on Swansea City's training camp to Portugal, fuelling speculation their star striker is set to leave the Liberty Stadium.
Premier League new boys Burnley have already had an estimated £1.25m bid rejected for Swansea's top scorer.

But Swans chairman Huw Jenkins admits there has been "more interest" from Wigan Athletic and new boss Roberto Martinez, the former Swansea manager.

Bolton Wanderers target Ferrie Bodde has also not travelled to Portugal.

But Swansea, who rejected a bid for the Dutch midfielder from the Premier League side last week, insist Bodde is not scheduled to return to pre-season training until next Monday.

Scotland, who is recovering from a groin strain, is rated at £3m by the Championship club but the Swans may accept less as the Trinidad and Tobago international has just 12 months left on his Liberty Stadium contract.

Scotland, who scored 24 goals in all competitions last season, was third in the Championship's top-scorers list behind Wolves striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Cardiff hotshot Ross McCormack.

Scotland impressed in Swansea's high-profile FA Cup run last season, scoring in their giant-killing of holders Portsmouth at Fratton Park and then hit goals in both games against Fulham before the Premier League club knocked them out.

The 30-year-old, signed from Scottish side St Johnstone for a bargain £25,000 in the summer of 2007, was League One's top-scorer during the 2007/08 season when his 24 goals inspired Swansea to the title as he scored 29 goals in all competition.

Martinez, the new Wigan boss, did admit last year when the pair were together at Swansea that he thought Scotland could play in the Premier League.

He said: "The responsibility he takes is impressive and I believe he has another level in his play."

Martinez is interested in taking Scotland with him to Wigan although they have yet to submit a formal bid, but they are aware of Swansea's valuation.

Scotland's agent Mike Berry has asked Swansea to "seriously consider" any Premier League bid as the player "has aspirations to play in the Premier League".

Scotland To Miss Portugal Training Camp
Vitalfootball reports.

BBC Sport is reporting that star striker Jason Scotland has not flown out to Portugal for a 7-day training camp this week.

Last week there was controversy involving Ferrie Bodde, now it seems that the attention has turned to another player who has attracted interest from Premiership clubs.

Bodde missed training last week but that matter seems to have been resolved now with the Swans, but Scotland will not be joining his team-mates in Paulo Sousa's native Portugal. Neither will Bodde, but it's been agreed that he'll stay in Holland to recover from a serious knee injury before reporting back on Sunday 12th July.

This adds doubt to Scotland's future at the club as both Burnley and Wigan are interested in the striker. Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins has admitted to BBC Sport that there's been more interest shown by Wigan in the Trinidad and Tobago international. Could his absence means he's staying in the UK to sort out a move to Wigan? Or is he simply having a longer rest/recovery after international duty?

Who knows, but the 30 year-old is eager to move to a higher standard and you can't blame him. He's not getting any younger now and this will be his best chance at playing in the Premier League.

It would be a big blow for us if he was to leave, as he has scored 53 goals in just 2 years in a Swansea shirt.
