Wigan striker Jason Scotland expects to keep his place in the side for Saturday's trip to Hull after playing his part in the famous victory over Chelsea.

After six substitute appearances since his summer £2million move from Coca-Cola Championship club Swansea, the Trinidad and Tobago international made his first start against Chelsea and that coincided with Wigan's first victory over one of the top-flight's 'big four' in 35 attempts. The 30-year-old Scotland, who has yet to score for the Latics having been prolific in the Championship, believes he warrants a second successive start at the KC Stadium.

"This was my first start for the club and I'll be disappointed if I don't start the next one," he said. "To come into this was a massive situation for me and the team and it's arguably the best team performance I've been involved in."

Manager Roberto Martinez, however, has never guaranteed anyone a position in the side and will select his team on form and suitability for the game ahead.

"I always look at the whole squad, I never work with 11 players," said the Spaniard.

"But I don't make the decisions, football makes the decisions.

"The players disappointed not to be in the starting XI have been working very hard behind the scenes and they have been making their point on the training ground.

"There are many options we have. Everyone is ready and in any game we shouldn't be too surprised at changes in the formation because we are going to be as good as the squad is and it is not about 11 players."
