D.C. United announced today Julius James has undergone a successful surgery to repair the labrum in his left shoulder. Doctor Christopher Annunziata of Commonwealth Orthopaedics performed the surgery Friday, Nov. 6. James is expected to be out for three to four months.

The defender signed with D.C. United on August 14 via trade with the Houston Dynamo. During his first season in D.C., James played in nine League matches (eight starts). In United’s final game of the season on 10/24, an injured James scored his sole goal of the campaign off a header.

In all competitions, James played in 14 games (13 starts), while amassing 1,144 total minutes. He was called up by the Trinidad and Tobago National Team to play 90 minutes in a World Cup qualifying match against Costa Rica on 10/10.
