Marvin AndrewsMARVIN Andrews is praying for Queens to win the first division.

The Trinidad and Tobago Christian centre half spoke to his maker the night he joined Queens on a month-long deal from SPL outfit Hamilton.

And he thinks the only team in the Bible have what it takes to join them in the top flight.

Andrews said: “They’re a very good team, and I’m really enjoying my time with the club so far.

“They’re a talented and very hard working team, and they’re determined.

“Coming back to win at Cappielow showed to me how driven they are.”

Andrews was drafted in on an emergency loan deal to cover for suspended captain David Lilley.

And it’s a move Andrews would like to see made permanent – if it’s God’s will.

“I believe that God has a plan for me, and I spend my life following that,” he said.

“I will let God decide where my future lies, but I would be very happy staying here if that is what is meant to happen.

“I said a prayer for Queens the night I signed for them, so hopefully God will be on their side.”

Andrews will make his Palmerston debut against a team very close to his heart.

But the sturdy centre back won’t be thinking about that at 3pm.

He said: “Raith Rovers have been fantastic to me throughout my career in Scotland.

“They allowed me to play here, and the match this weekend will be an emotional one for me.

“I’ll be trying not to think about any of that this weekend.

“I will be wearing a Queen of the South strip and that is what I will be focusing on.

“I helped them get promoted last season and still know a lot of the players and staff, so I will be speaking to them afterwards.”

Andrews pulled on a Queens jersey for the first time last weekend – playing the full 90 minutes in last weekend’s Morton win.

And it was a real baptism of fire for Andrews.

He said: “I was thrown right into things as soon as I joined.

“I hadn’t played a match in three months before the Morton game.

“I had been involved in bounce games, but that’s very different from the tempo and pressure of a real match.”
