Scunthorpe United have signed veteran goalkeeper Tony Warner on a month's contract.

The free agent has joined the Iron because first choice shot-stopper Joe Murphy is struggling with a groin injury.

United boss Ian Baraclough was giving the Irishman until the last possible minute to decide whether he would be available for tomorrow's trip to Watford, but the 29-year-old is clearly struggling.

Warner was watched by Baraclough little more than a week ago when he played against the Iron for Leeds in a reserve match during a trial spell at Elland Road.

The 36-year-old Scouser, who began his career at Liverpool, has made more than 250 league appearances, with 12 different clubs. He was released after a short spell by Charlton at the end of last season.

Warner will battle with Iron rookie Sam Slocombe for a place between the posts at Vicarage Road tomorrow.
