JASON Scotland is under pressure to score goals, in a goal-shy team, but that doesn’t worry him in the slightest.
However, the Trinidad & Tobago striker is yet to score on his travels, having bagged all his goals at Portman Road, against Bristol City, Cardiff, Leeds and Coventry.
Scotland will be looking to put that record straight at Nottingham Forest this afternoon, a tall order when considered that Billy Davies’ men have not lost at home in the regular season in their last 25 outings, a run stretching back more than a year.
The pressure is therefore on Scotland to add to his tally. And rather than be a shrinking violet, it is a challenge that he thrives on.
“The gaffer is not putting any pressure on me to score goals, but I enjoy the pressure,” insisted Scotland.
“The good thing is that I’m getting the chances, although some I’m not taking. I’m feeling like I can score in every game.
“Last season (at Wigan in the Premier League) was not the best, in terms of scoring. But I’ve got the appetite for scoring goals now, and I’m confident I can make things happen in and around the box.
“I’m happy that my appetite has come back. I know I can take a chance, even half-a-chance, when it comes along. I want to make it count, while last season the confidence and the finishing wasn’t there,” added Scotland.
More often than not, Scotland has operated as a lone front-man this season, although he has also played alongside Tamas Priskin and Connor Wickham. The team’s formation has been a burning issue for Town fans.
“I’m comfortable with playing as a one or two. It’s up to how the gaffer sees it,” added Scotland.
