New signing Andre Boucaud could be in line for his first start in York City colours against AFC Wimbledon on Saturday – weather permitting.

The 26-year-old midfielder signed for the Minstermen on Friday on loan from Kettering, with a view to a permanent deal being finalised next month.

Boucaud made his City debut from the bench as a 76th-minute substitute in Tuesday’s 0-0 draw at Kidderminster and is being teed up for his first start at home to AFC Wimbledon.

City boss Gary Mills said: “Andre is a player who loves to get on the ball and pass it.

“He’s a hell of a player who will get us playing but, because he hasn’t really trained with us due to the weather, I wanted him to sit and watch how we play first.

“He probably didn’t learn too much about what we are about because of the conditions, but I’m looking forward to having him in my team.”
