The Charleston Battery has agreed to terms with two more players for the 2003 A-League season. 2001 A-League Defender of the Year, Rick Titus joins the Battery from Major League Soccer’s Colorado Rapids. Jamar Beasley comes to the Battery from Italian side, Puteolana; prior to Puteolana Beasley played for four years in Major League Soccer.

Rick Titus
Defender Rick Titus comes to Charleston after spending the 2002 season with Major League Soccer’s Colorado Rapids. Titus played and started 27 games for the Rapids in 2002 accumulating 2,362 minutes, with one assist. He played against the Battery in its 1-0 OT US Open Cup loss to the Rapids.
Titus began his professional career in 1988 with the Toronto Italia of the National Soccer League in Canada before breaking into the A-League with the Toronto Lynx in 1997. Titus played five seasons in the A-League with spells at the Toronto Lynx (1997-98), Hershey Wildcats (1999), Staten Island Vipers (1999) and the Vancouver Whitecaps (2000, 2001). With the Whitecaps, Titus played every minute of every game compiling a streak of 50 consecutive games and 4,630 minutes – both club records. He was named A-League Defender of the Year in 2001.
A native of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, Titus was a three-year starter at the University of Toronto.
Jamar Beasley
Midfielder / forward, Jamar Beasley, 23, comes to the Battery from Italian Serie “C” side, Puteolana. Prior to playing for Puteolana, Beasley spent four seasons in Major League Soccer, most recently with the Chicago Fire in 2001, where he was a teammate of Andrew Lewis.
Beasley began his professional career in 1998 with the New England Revolution. He spent three years with the Revs scoring 3 goals, and adding 5 assists in 41 games played. In 2001 Beasley was traded to the Chicago Fire, scoring 4 goals with another three assists in 18 games played.
A Ft. Wayne, IN native, Beasley is a former member of the U20 United States National Team, appearing at the 1999 Youth World Championship in Nigeria. Beasley spent the 1998 off-season training with legendary Italian power AC Milan.
