Yet another T&T footballer seems to have a love for playing golf following a trend started by Dwight Yorke, Russell Latapy and Trent Noel.

English-born midfielder Jake Thomson was last week involved in the Willow Foundation Celebrity Golf Day. A Seve Ballesteros and Jose Maria Olazabal signed photo was one of the prizes up for grabs in an auction.

Thomson was among former greats including Ian Wright and Ossie Ardiles as well as Arsenal stars Theo Walcott, David Seaman, Lee Dixon, Nigel Winterburn, Alan Smith, John Hollins, Frank McLintock and George Graham.

The Gunners legends were joined by their Tottenham Hotspur rivals stars Pat Jennings, Les Ferdinand, Ardiles, Ricky Villa and Martin Chivers, as well as Everton and West Ham favourite Tony Cottee and former Southampton player Thomson.

Once they finished their round, the players enjoyed a meal before taking part in a raffle and an auction, which not only included the picture of Spain’s most famous golfers, but also a signed Gareth Bale shirt.

The tournament raised more than 47,000 pounds for the Old Hatfield-based charity which provides special days out for seriously ill 16-to 40-year-olds. Thomson is expected in Trinidad in a few weeks time to take part in a training camp.
