KEVIN Austin is expected to sign a one-year Boston United deal today.

The 38-year-old former Trinidad and Tobago international made 14 appearances for the Pilgrims last season, while on loan from Blue Square Bet Premier Darlington.

The no-nonsense defender played an important role as United reached the Blue Square Bet North play-off semi-finals, although a foot injury ruled him out of the second leg clash to Guiseley, which Boston lost on penalties.

After his contract with Darlington came to an end, Austin agreed return to York Street on a permenant basis.

Austin has also played for Bristol Rovers, Swansea City, Leyton Orient, Lincoln City, Cambridge United, Kettering Town and Chesterfield.

Ryan Semple, Paul Bastock, Mark Newsham, Gareth Jelleyman and Danny Sleath have all joined Jason Lee and Lee Canoville’s playing staff.

Elsewhere, the Pilgrims have revealed that Julian Joachim will return to United for pre-season training, so the managers can run the rule over the Boston-born former Aston Villa and Leicester City striker.
