Columbus Crew defender Julius James is prepared to do just about anything to ensure nothing gets past his defence line whether he’s playing for club or country.
The former St Anthony’s College player held his own at the back for T&T in its wins over Barbados and Bermuda respectively and earned plaudits from head coach Otto Pfister for his courageous and composed showing in both matches.
“Personally I’m just grateful for the opportunity to represent the country and as such, I do my best every time I wear the national uniform,” James said.
“Getting six points in our opening two matches has been great but it would not have been possible without my teammates like Chris (Birchall), Kenwyne (Jones), Carlos (Edwards) and all the other guys who have given their all.
I expect this team to grow from strength to strength,” he said. James has been around in the MLS but has cemented a spot in the Crew team and is hoping to hold steady at the club.
“When I get my chance I try to make the best of it. I train and hard and I play hard so hopefully this will keep me in the coach’s plans both club and country,” James added.
