Daneil Cyrus (left).Defender Daneil Cyrus is likely to return to training in late November after suffering a fractured metatarsal in a reserve game for Sporting Kansas in August.

The Tobago-born player underwent surgery and has been ruled out for the rest of the MLS season. But he remains optimistic that he will return to first team football by early next year.

“The recovery is going a bit faster than we thought it would and that’s a good sign but it will take me until the end of November before I can resume any kind of serious training,” Cyrus said on Friday.

Cyrus joined Kansas on loan on July 16th and made his debut against Newcastle United four days later prior to the injury.

“I want to be back as strong as I possibly can. Playing for the first team is my main aim but I know I need to be patient and ensure the recovery takes place. I also want to be fit again in order to have a chance of returning to the national team,” added Cyrus.

He has 13 appearances for T&T and also represented T&T at the 2007 FIFA Under 17 World  Cup and Under 20 World Cup in 2009.
