Gifton Noel-Williams feels his new strike-partner Kenwyne Jones will become a better player - thanks to advice from himself and other players at the club.

The Trinidad and Tobago International made an instant impact on the side when he scored on his debut against Millwall last month, but has failed to find the net since.

But Noel-Williams thinks the 20-year-old, on a month's loan from Southampton, is resilient enough and talented enough to silence any critics.

Gifton said: "People have said that he's come into the side and look's up to players like me and wants to learn off me and the other lads.

"It's nice that I can pass on what I know onto someone else but whether they take it on or whether it suits them, that is something else.

"I've told him a few pointers which I was told when I was younger and hopefully he'll take it on board and it'll make him a better player.

"Kenwyne's got a lot of energy and he's a good player.

"He's got quite a similar build to me and he likes to run with the ball and we're trying to mix it up a bit in games."

He added: "There's been a bit of pressure on him because of how he performed at Sheffield Wednesday and he did really well there.

"So coming into the Championship is another step-up and it's another step-up physically, mentally and tactically.

"But I think the more games he's plays here the better he'll get and the goals will come."
