The 2nd Annual SW Futsal Invitational will be held on Sunday at the Eastern Regional Indoor Arena. As with the inaugural competition held in 2009, sporting enthusiasts and football fans will be treated to 10 hours of football. Organisers SW Touring, have teamed up with the University of the West Indies Student Guild for this year's one-of-kind sporting event. Futsal is a five-a-side game, and the format of small goal football that is recognised and supported by FIFA, the governing body for world football. Men and women teams nationwide will do battle  for over $45,000 in cash and prizes.

The biggest futsal fiesta for 2009 kicks off 9am on Saturday at the UWI- SPEC grounds, St Augustine with 24 teams battling for the $10,000 first prize and SW Futsal Invitational Challenge Trophy.

Plans are being put in place to form a Futsal Association in T&T. To get the association up and running, a meeting will be held on Sunday at the CEPEP Administrative Office (next to Central Regional Sports Complex) in Saith Park, Chaguanas, from 10 am. Registration starts at 9 am.

CLAYTON MORRIS, the coach of the Trinidad and Tobago national futsal team, is pushing for the establishment of a National Futsal Football League as a means of lifting the level of the sport in the country. Morris was speaking following his team’s participation last week at the 2008 CONCACAF Futsal Championship at the Domo Polideportivo in Guatemala City, Guatemala, where Caribbean champions T&T failed to grab one of the three qualifying places for the World Futsal Championship.
