PRO LEAGUE leaders Defence Force feel they have something to prove when they take on North East Stars in tomorrow’s opening match of the Lucozade Goal Shield (knockout) semi-final double-header at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya.
“We have something personal against (North East Stars),” said the Pro League top-scorer and Defence Force forward Devorn Jorsling. “They defeated us in the final of the Toyota Classic and in the last (Digicel Pro) League meeting against them. So this game on Friday we will be coming all guns blazing.”
Last December the Stars defeated Defence Force 4-2 on penalties following a 2-2 draw in the final of the Toyota Classic, and in their most recent meeting on March 8, the solders went under 1-0 via a 14th minute Cornell Glen strike.
Friday’s quarter-finals set up another showing between the rivals, after Defence Force got by T&TEC by a 6-1 margin and Stars edged Central FC 1-0 via a 29th minute Elijah Manners goal.
“It’s going to be a difficult one, but we are confident in our own ability and have proven that all season” stated Jorsling, who leads the Pro League goalscorers with 19 strikes. “But in saying that, we must show up with our best.”
