CHIEF EXECUTIVE Officer of DIRECTV North East Stars, Brent Sancho, has indicated that changes will be forthcoming to the Pro League outfit, once the time is allotted to him and opportunities become available.
This comes on the heel on yet another North East defeat, with a cagey 1-0 loss on Saturday to W Connection, who are now matching the league leaders, TTEC, on 18 points.
Sancho’s charges are languishing in sixth place, accumulating a meagre eight points, after nine games, and the former national team stopper could not help but express his displeasure.
“I’m thoroughly disappointed, safe to say the least. It’s not a good feeling to chalk up yet another loss. There’s only so much we can do but clearly we’re not playing to our full potential,” he stated as he pinpointed the lack of optimisation of their forwards as a key factor.
He lamented another sordid performance against Connection as his team continues to prove a less than resounding challenger thus far in the campaign, with local football pundits already discrediting their run at the trophy.
“We have a good defensive record as we’ve conceded nine goals which is better than a few teams who are joint at the top, but it’s in the offence we’re suffering.
Good defence prevents a loss but we know that goals win games and that’s our downfall. It’s shaky up in front by the net these days,” he continued as he alluded as to what hindered the squad.
“At some juncture, changes will have to ring in. We have sponsors and fans to impress and if we don’t attract sponsors, as well as a crowd, how can we shift forward positively and develop as a club?
We need to win to be a competitive force and attract sponsors and players so that we’re on par to be the best in the league,” he divulged as he laid out a few resolutions to turn things around.
Despite the trying times currently, he is not deterred in their aspirations for the remainder of the season and confessed that they would still prove a potent threat once they found their rhythm and got into gear.
“We need to turn this season around and we will not give up. We’re a fighting unit and we’ll make do and make the best with what we have to work with.
