The oil and gas giant—Petrotrin has once more decided to put professional football on their agenda. At one time Petrotrin was a powerhouse in local football, back when they were formally called Trintoc.

They then produced players like—Clayton Morris, Philbert Jones, Brian Williams, Dexter Francis, Russel Latapy, Marvin Faustin, Leonson Lewis and Larry Joseph.

Come this year in the 2005 T&T Pro League—the company will be known as United Petrotrin.

Petrotrin has been the sponsor for the Southern Football League for the past three years, and they have a long tradition of excellence in sport, since the era of their predecessor companies.

The company sees sport as an important mechanism of socio-economic development and participating in the Pro League is one way to join the national effort for the development of football at the highest level.

In the 2005 season, United Petrotrin will take under its umbrella South West Drillers—coaching the team this year will be former South West Drillers coach and Petrotrin’s very own Brian Williams.

The former strike squad defender told ‘ttproleague.com’ “While the team is a young one and does not have any stars—I believe the team will give a good account of themselves this season.

“We have nothing to lose, we are the unknowns and we will be giving it everything we got.”
