TTEC COACH Dexter Cyrus, has hailed his stingy defence for their rise to the top of the Pro League Standings, with stalwart defender, Kern Peters being singled out for his outstanding performances this season.

“Peters was a defensive midfielder for us in the Super League but his conversion to centre-back this season has been remarkable as he’s solid as a rock in the back. He’s a foundation for us,” Cyrus stated as he also drew attention to national goalkeeper, Marvin Phillip and Romauld Aguillera as key importees.

“Aguillera is one I spotted from the Palo Seco area during my tenure with United Petrotrin and knew he would be a good acquisition for us. It’s not just our league defensive record, which proves the best right now, but our goals up front that are counting. We have the most goals and least conceded so we’re working well on both sides of the coin,” added the ex-national player.

While he reiterated the importance of wingback play to their attributed style, Cyrus also professed that a deep and well-rounded squad was a key facet they possessed, with the right blend of youth immersed into more versed players.

The coach expressed great satisfaction with the progress of the team and confessed that their evolution would be exponential with the likes of Clayton Ince at the club, as a influential player and an assistant coach.

“Ince brings a vast deal of English club experience and a wealth of national team knowledge to the team, especially to the younger players we want to further develop. He looks after training and ensures all goes well, without management asking him to. That’s how he is. “He adopts that role as he is a natural leader. It’s inspirational and he is such a valuable asset for the dressing room. Clayton raises the degree of professionalism,” he commended of the former Crewe Alexandra goalie.

The former Soca Warrior and ex-Walsall shot-stopper is seen as seemingly indispensable at the moment with Cyrus conferring how essential that kind of experience is to the development of the club in its entirety, more so with TTEC granted an entry spot into the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Championships, alongside Caledonia AIA and W Connection.
