W Connection, a club seeking to claim the title in all three Oasis Youth Pro League divisions, got one step further to doing so after recording positive results in rescheduled matches over the weekend.

Most significantly Connection moved five points clear at the top of the Under-18 standings with a 9-2 thrashing of fourth placed St Ann’s Rangers.

Forwards Akeem Roach and Neil Benjamin Jr bagged an impressive hat-trick each, with Jason Mendez, Adan Noel and Akeem Humphrey scoring one goal apiece.

Johnathan Cruickshank scored the first goal of the match for St Ann’s Rangers with Arvin Prescod getting the other as a consolation.

North East Stars also stayed in the hunt for the Under-18 title with an important 3-2 win over San Juan Jabloteh, on Sunday.

Stars are five points back in second place, with one more match in hand, while Jabloteh sits dead last on only six points. On Saturday second placed Rangers and top W Connection played to a goal-less draw in the Under-16 division.

The result did not change the face of the standings, but Rangers, which has a match in hand, will be able to take over W Connection for first place with a win, when it takes on Jabloteh, today, at Trinity College Ground, Moka.
