Police FC under new head coach, Richard Hood, bagged full points in its 2012-2013 Digicel Pro League Championship opener against T&TEC FC on Saturday afternoon.
The Lawmen registered two second half goals from Todd Ryan and substitute Kareem Perry for a 2-0
Hood's side first found the back of the net in the 47th minute from the penalty spot at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, with Ryan shooting to the left of goalkeeper Akini Adams.
It was from defender Marc Hunte's unnecessary push on Dexter Allenye well away from goal at the corner of the 18-yard and touch lines that referee Joel Davidson blew for the foul.
Perry later locked-up the win when he latched onto a pass from another substitute, Ricardo Peltier, and hooking an early strike beating the glove of Adams for a late cushion in the 87th minute.
The ball clipped the inside of the upright before hitting the back of the net, sending the Police players and bench into celebration.
Police joined the list of Round One Match Day One winners to sit second on the standings behind North East Stars, 3-1 winner of Caledonia, and ahead of Defence Force, 2-1 winner over St. Ann's Rangers on Friday night.
With players such as Ryan, Trent Noel, Vernell Ramirez, Dexter Alleyne and defender Karlon Murray in the starting lineup, Police enjoyed a slightly better first half than T&TEC which is in a transitional period.
Thirteen minutes into the match Alleyne tested the T&TEC goal, letting off a shot, however it was directly at goalkeeper Adams who made a comfortable gather.
Six minutes later Alleyne hooked another at goal off Vernell Ramirez's cross from the right but that too was easily taken by Adams.
T&TEC's Javed Mohammed responded in the 24th minute with a powerful left footed effort from the left causing problems for goalkeeper Emmanuel Nurse who did well gloving it behind for a corner.
But it was back to Adams who was called into action again in the 33rd minute, making a full stretch to his left to shut out a decent strike from distance by Noel.
After giving away the penalty just inside the second period, T&TEC held off the Policemen for a lengthy period, even stringing some positive plays. But in the 70th minute T&TEC's goal was under threat again when a neat exchange of passes by Hood's side ended with Anton Hutchinson curling an effort just wide of the upright.
Kareem Perry who replaced Alleyne on the hour mark signaled his intentions early on, by having a couple go at goal before finally bagging one three minutes from time.
