A stunning first half item by Kevon Carter followed by a second half double by Devorn Jorsling saw Defence Force shrug off Police FC for a 3-1 Digicel Pro League win on Friday night.

Defence Force (28 points), enjoying an eight-match winning streak, leads the table with an intimidating 11-point advantage, and chased by second positioned Caledonia AIA (17 points) and defending champions DIRECTV W Connection (16 points) both with two matches in hand.

Caledonia and Connection will tackle T&TEC FC and St. Ann’s Rangers from 6pm and 8pm respectively on Monday in their Round Two Match Day Four fixtures in hopes of keeping close to the Soldiers.

Carter fired the Ross Russell coached—Defence Force ahead 1-0 in the 16th minute with a superb strike from above the area to beat Adisa Alleyne for his sixth League goal of the season.

And on the half hour mark, following a neat buildup by the Soldiers, right winger Jemel Sebro running onto Jorsling’s pass, failed to shoot past the legs of Alleyne.

Army defender Glynn Franklyn could have easily doubled the Soldiers advantage in the 43rd minute, but instead headed a well placed Josimar Belgrave cross just wide of the upright.

But seconds inside the second period, Jorsling added another Defence Force item for a 2-0 cushion against a shell-shocked Police defense.

The Defence Force target-man executed a casual low left footed strike from the left of the area for his eleventh League item this season, defeating the gloves on Alleyne at the near post.

Police, who suffered a slim 1-0 defeat against the Soldiers in Round One, had a couple first half efforts kept out by Defence Force goalie Kevin Graham.

Graham pulled off a great save in the 29th minute to keep out a Trent Noel freekick in the 29th minute and three minutes later miraculously blocked out a left footed blast from Jameel Perry.

However Graham made little movement against a header by Christon Thomas in the 75th minute which found the back of the net and reducing the Police deficit 1-2.

Thomas from an unmarked position inside the area comfortably guided substitute Kareem Perry’s left side cross into goal and celebrated somewhat of a lifeline.

But in the 94th and final minute of added on time, Jorsling who delayed on a goalscoring opportunity on the hour mark, made no mistake when he buried shot from distance into the Police far netting for his fourth double in the last five matches and a 3-1 Defence Force win.

While the Soldiers celebrated their eight consecutive win, Jorsling who leads the League goal scorers’ list with 12 goals, deserves special plaudit for his incredible tally of 9 goals in his team’s last 5 League matches.
