Charles-Fevrier picks up second award on the trot; Point Fortin's Marcus Joseph and Carrington tops in January.

W Connection midfielder Joevin Jones and longstanding head coach Stuart Charles-Fevrier, no strangers to individual accolades, were voted November/December Wendy's Player and Blue Waters Coach of the Month, respectively.

While former Connection midfielder, captain and assistant coach Reynold Carrington, now the head coach of Point Fortin Civic, was honoured as January Blue Waters Coach of the Month.

Point Fortin star, attacking midfielder Marcus Joseph, undoubtedly secured the PFC double by picking up the January Wendy’s Player of the Month award.

His 6 goals in five matches during January were helpful in PFC climbing from the bottom half of the table, to now occupy second position.

“I feel great receiving this award for the first time,” said the Trinidad and Tobago midfielder. “And it’s something I’d like to continue achieving.”

Joseph, Carrington and the rest of PFC will host Caledonia AIA from 3.30 pm on Saturday at the Mahaica Oval in Round Two Match Day Eight of the Digicel Pro League and are hoping to improve their 23 points tally, 10 points adrift of leaders Connection.

“It’s a great opportunity for the club coming into the Pro League (this season),” said Joseph. “(…) and we are going to give it a good fight.”

Despite being grateful for the individual award, Carrington’s eyes are set on the League title.

“I’m very humble to be in a league with such good coaches and be awarded coach of the month of January,” said the 44-year-old former T&T international.

“I appreciate it very much and will continue to work hard. The awards will come but I’m not setting my goals on just receiving (individual) awards. I want to be there when the team win big accolades… like the champions of the 2013/2014 season.”

Carrington, who led his side to 2 wins, 2 draws and suffered just 1 defeat, all in January, thanked the management, players and supporters of PFC.

He added, “At some point in time you will have rough patches, but there are supporters who stood with us, to see that we could turn the negative into positive in a short space of time. We are now looking to be consistent.”

Carrington’s former coach and mentor, Charles-Fevrier, explained, “When you are working as a coach, (individual accolades) aren’t things you think about, because you’re more about the business of your job.

“But having been adjudged coach of the month (November/December) it’s something one obviously feels proud of, because your work has been recognized.”

Fevrier, who picked up the Coach of the Month honour for September/October and has already led the "Savonnetta Boys" to the Digicel Charity Shield, Toyota Classic and FA Trophy titles this season, while maintaining a healthy lead at the top of the league standings, said he wants to share the achievement with the entire W Connection staff and players.

Charles-Fevrier also thanked sponsors Blue Waters and Wendy’s for their involvement, adding, “It’s what the professional league needs at the moment. It’s good to see the Player of the Month and Coach of the Month back. It’s something the players, especially, look forward too.

Its something coaches appreciate, so I would say that any award, any incentive is welcomed. Because when you work, you like to be recognized and the incentives motivates you.”

Jones, meanwhile, said, “It’s always good to receive an award. It’s a really great feeling when you have these personal achievements.”

“I’m aiming at taking my (top) performances throughout the season and try to achieve more,” ended the T&T international.
