Second-placed Point Fortin Civic FC will be seeking to diminish the gap between itself and leader DirecTV W Connection to five points, at least momentarily, when the striving newcomer takes on Police, in Digicel TT Pro League action today.

The league resumes after a break for Carnival with a Marvin Lee Stadium double-header, opening with the feature clash from 6 pm, followed by a meeting with Caledonia AIA and North East Stars, at 8 pm.

A day later, W Connection, will face the opportunity to increase its lead at the top once again when the club takes on rock-bottom St Ann’s Rangers at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva, from 5 pm.

Defence Force, meanwhile, which is recovering from the death of one of its stellar players, winger Kevon Carter, will be back in action on Sunday after its clash with Central FC, originally carded for tomorrow was postponed for 24 hours. The match will be played at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Arima, from 4 pm.

The funeral for Carter will take place this morning, at the Trinidad Christian Centre, located on the corner of Morne Coco and Simeon Road, Petit Valley and will be followed by the burial at the Military Cemetery in St James.

His teammates will need to be transfixed on football in time for a series of rescheduled and regular league matches, as well as the start of the CFU Club Championship. The Army team will depart on March 19 for Jamaica to contest Guyana’s Alpha United, Suriname’s Sporting Vereniging Notch, and home-team Habour View FC in Group 3 of the CFU Club Championship between March 21-25.

Prior to its departure and following its clash with Central on Sunday, Defence Force will come up against Caledonia AIA on Tuesday, then against St Ann’s Rangers, two days later. Next Sunday, Defence Force will play Point Fortin Civic and then North East Stars on March 18; a run of games totalling five in 10 days.
